Donald Trump's System of Punishment and Favor

Trump's insatiable appetite for revenge has quickly morphed into a methodical system. During the year since his election, the leader's rage and whims have taken on the form of administrative measures similar to reminiscent to historical authoritarian governments. Justice department personnel who fail to comply are immediately dismissed and succeeded by supporters. Opposing officials who question him face prosecution, judicial process and punishment. Opponents have been designated under administration directives as “unpatriotic”, “anti-Christian” and “against free markets”, and menaced with prosecution as “terrorists”.

Government Institutions Remade

All case involving prosecution of critics and protection for loyalists demonstrates its own unique characteristics. However, despite their specific character, they embody expressions of what has arisen as a deliberate method. These events are not coincidental. Trump's cleansing of federal attorneys and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, alongside his installation of supporters in senior positions, commenced swiftly, soon developed a consistency, and has now been molded into a regime. DoJ and the FBI have been remade into partisan organizations under the president's clear orders to implement his demands. Injustice has been made routine. It constitutes the retribution system.

Leadership is focused with punishing the leader's supposed enemies than they are with defending our public welfare.

Within the System

The origin of this mechanism has been uncovered in the court filing of several ex- high-ranking FBI executives lodged in September in the US district court in the capital against top official Kash Patel and top lawyer another official for wrongful dismissal in “a campaign of payback against the officials for what the accused judged to be a refusal to exhibit proper allegiance”. In the complaint that a former acting director, the former temporary head, describes a exchange in which he “openly acknowledged the illegality of his behavior”.

He had sought to shield agency personnel from being fired, the lawsuit states. He advised him that “White House figures” – perceived by Driscoll to be the White House and justice department – had instructed him to remove anyone who they determined as having been involved in a criminal investigation against Trump. The complaint adds: “The director stated that he had to terminate the people his leaders told him to fire, because his ability to hold his own job was contingent on the dismissal of the personnel who worked on matters involving the leader. Patel explained that there was nothing he or him could do to stop these or any other firings, because ‘the agency attempted to incarcerate the President in jail and he recalls it clearly.’” When the official advised Patel he was breaking the agency's own internal rules, he allegedly said “he understood that and he knew the essence of the immediate dismissals were probably improper”.

Broad Consequences

Following his claimed confession to the official, the justice department and the FBI have been dismantled and reorganized for his revenge apparatus. Six of the agency's top officials were fired or compelled to leave in the first days of the presidency. Approximately thousands of lawyers at DoJ have accepted a “early exit scheme”. A minimum of several federal prosecutors, such as those in the Manhattan division, stepped down in protest over what they viewed as political interference in withdrawing the corruption case against the city leader, Eric Adams, in exchange for his cooperation with Trump's Immigration and Customs Enforcement roundups of immigrants. The public integrity section of the department, which manages corruption cases, has been cut down to two attorneys. The rights protection unit has been severely reduced: 70% of its staff has departed. 33% of top officials at the department have resigned. The unit upholding conservation statutes has experienced the exit of half its leadership.

Incentives and Punishments

In the mayor's situation, the acting US attorney for the NY office, the official, stepped down in dissent against what she characterized as the “trade-off”. A key figure, his “enforcement chief,” was present as the agent with Adams on Fox News to state: “Unless he complies, I will return in New York City.”. Additionally, a former official, earlier the acting deputy attorney general and a ex-lawyer, who arranged the deal, was given an court role, a possible springboard to the supreme court.

The president's immunity for crimes committed while in office, awarded by the extraordinary judgment of the Republican majority on the supreme court, thus thwarting his prosecution over the Capitol riot and preserving his electoral prospects for the presidential race, is the basis on which he stands to shield his supporters. Under these circumstances, he has been liberated to enable corruption. The effect of the judicial ruling saturates his government and the political party completely. Trump v United States has spread. In the words of the former president's administration lawyer the figure commented about the Watergate
